The Quiet Rex is an adults-only (20+), quiet lounge in Amsterdam for people who need calm, focus, and a break from the pace of daily life. Created for readers, busy professionals, creatives, and animal lovers, it offers a premium, silent space to read, work quietly, enjoy calm arts and crafts, and decompress alongside free-roaming rabbits.
Inspired by our own experience in demanding corporate environments, The Quiet Rex was born from a personal need for a space that supports both focused working hours and genuine moments of decompression.
To protect the quiet atmosphere, visits are mainly by reservation, with limited walk-in availability when space allows.

Upstairs we have a reading-only lounge, home to our wider, carefully curated English-language library collection. Our shelves are intentionally balanced across contemporary fiction, thrillers, romance, literary favorites, classics, fantasy, manga and non-fiction, creating a selection designed for comfort, discovery, and quiet escape. Guests can settle into long, comfortable lounge chairs and enjoy a quiet stay surrounded by 4 free-roaming bunnies (Mother, Teresa, & Giacomo). Guests are also welcome to bring their own books.

FOCUS
READ
Settle into one of our comfortable lounge chairs and choose from our core library of English books. The downstairs reading area is especially suited for guests who cannot use stairs or prefer step-free access.
WORK
Use one of our desks for quiet, focused work. Basic work materials are available on site, and the space is designed for calm, low-distraction focus.
ARTS & CRAFTS
Enjoy calm creative time with journals, watercolor kits, painting sets, puzzles, crochet, coloring books, and more. Materials are available on site, and you are also welcome to bring your own project.
Downstairs is also home to Alec & Casanova.
OUR BUNNIES
All of our bunnies are Mini Rex rabbits, known for their velvety fur and gentle, curious, social nature.
Our bunnies need extra, ongoing care, so everything at The Quiet Rex is designed around calm routines, daily monitoring, and gentle, rabbit-led interaction.
We created a stress-free space where the quiet atmosphere supports both our bunnies and our guests.
Like any workplace, The Quiet Rex has different personalities: the calm ones, the dramatic ones, the snack-focused ones, and the ones who clearly think they run the place.
Their titles simply help translate bunny behaviour into human terms.
Mother
Head of Research & Development
Mother is the oldest bunny and mother of five, watchful, affectionate, and quietly in charge, apart from the occasional loud snore.
teresa
IT Director
Teresa works quietly in the background, keeps close to Mother. Nobody is fully sure what she does, but things seem to work.
Giacomo
VP of Public Relations
Giacomo is super social, playful, and confidently available for guest interaction. He loves charming humans, and acting like every day is launch day.
casanova
Head of Legal
Known for her independent mindset and investigative nature, Casanova specializes in boundary review, loophole detection, and strategic exit planning. She takes a proactive approach to every assignment and rarely overlooks an opportunity.
Alec
Head of Operations
Alec makes sure the enclosures are always stocked with the essentials. Reliable, practical, and quietly efficient, he keeps daily operations running smoothly.
Sander
In loving memory
Sander was soft, gentle, and truly special. Known for his calm presence and signature full-body flops, he brought so much sweetness to The Quiet Rex.
Many guests fell in love with him, just as we did. Sander sadly passed away in June 2026, but he will always be part of our bunny family and The Quiet Rex story.
Reservations
We are open Wednesday to Friday from 13:00 to 21:00, and Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 to 19:00.

🥬 Bunny Feeding (Optional)
3:30PM & 6:30PM daily
During booking, you can add a small veggie treat bag for €3 to gently feed the bunnies.
Feeding is supervised and limited for their wellbeing.
Note: Bunnies are most active in the early morning and evening.
Monthly Memberships per person with Full Access (reading lounge, work or arts & crafts)
Associate: €59 - 4 hours/month (no rollover)
Manager: €119 - 8 hours/month (no rollover)
Director: €169 - 12 hours/month (no rollover)
CEO: €296 - 4 full days/month (≈ 8h/week) (no rollover)
Valid for all available booking times.
All bookings allow cancellation up to 24 hours in advance and rescheduling up to 2 hours before the booking time.
FOOD & DRINKS
Vegan & Gluten Free
The Quiet Rex is not a café or restaurant. We are a quiet reading and focus lounge with bunnies.
To respect the silence of the space and the wellbeing of the bunnies, we do not serve hot drinks or use loud machinery.
We offer a small selection of packaged drinks and vegan, gluten-free snacks, including bottled water, fresh juices, vegan cappuccino, plant-based chocolate milk, banana milk, and snack options.
Because our bunnies are herbivores, our snack corner is vegan too.

Age: Guests must be 20+ to enter. No groups.
Silence & vibe

This is a quiet sanctuary: whisper only.

Phones must stay on silent/vibrate. To preserve the quiet atmosphere, limited phone use, photography, and social media are allowed.

Kindness toward rabbits and humans is expected at all times.
Language

We love Amsterdam and want everyone to feel welcome. English is the shared language in our space.
Bunnies – safety first

Watch your step and move slowly in the bunny areas.

Don’t chase, pick up or crowd the rabbits. Let them come to you.

Avoid sudden movements. Small scratches or nibbles can happen around animals.

No outside animals are allowed on site.
Clothing & hygiene

You’ll be asked to remove your shoes (slippers are provided) and clean your hands before entering the rabbit area.

Please wear long pants and socks.

Please avoid perfume or other strong fragrances.

Keep bags and coats off the bunny zones.

Dirt or fur on clothing is possible, so avoid delicate/expensive outfits.

If you are feeling unwell, we kindly ask that you reschedule your visit.

We care about the wellbeing of all our guests. This experience is not recommended for those who are pregnant, immunocompromised, or have severe allergies.
Books & work

Please keep books, laptops and crafts materials within your reserved spot and use them quietly.
Drinks & snacks

Only packaged drinks and snacks provided on site may be consumed. No outside drinks or food is allowed.

Enjoy them quietly and dispose of packaging before you leave.
Furniture & movement

Please don’t drag or rearrange furniture; ask us if you need help.

Keep your things within your seat/desk; don’t block shared paths.
Reservations & timing

We recommend arriving 5 minutes early. If you arrive late, you’re still welcome to join, but your session will end at the original scheduled time, so your visit may be shorter.
