Welcom/welcome!
The Quiet Rex is an adults-only (20+) quiet lounge for reading, arts & crafts, and focused work alongside free-roaming Rex bunnies. Located in Amsterdam Noord, it is a calm space to slow down, concentrate, or simply decompress.
The idea came from our own lives. After demanding days in corporate environments, some of our calmest moments were the simple ones: sitting at home reading or doing arts & crafts while our bunnies moved around us. There was something grounding about sharing a quiet space with them without needing to do anything at all. We created The Quiet Rex to bring that feeling to others.
The bunnies are not performers and this is not a petting zoo. They are part of the environment, just as they are at home with us.
Guests stay seated, the space remains quiet, and every interaction is bunny-led.
Reservations are recommended, and walk-ins are welcome when space is available.

Upstairs we have a reading-only lounge, home to our wider, carefully curated English-language library collection. Our shelves are intentionally balanced across contemporary fiction, thrillers, romance, literary favorites, classics, fantasy, manga and non-fiction, creating a selection designed for comfort, discovery, and quiet escape. Guests can settle into long, comfortable lounge chairs and enjoy a quiet stay with our free roaming bunnies Evelyn & Hugo . Guests are also welcome to bring their own books.

READ
Settle into one of our comfortable lounge chairs and choose from our core library of English books. The downstairs reading area is especially suited for guests who cannot use stairs or prefer step-free access.
ARTS & CRAFTS
Enjoy calm creative time with coloring books, watercolor kits, painting sets, puzzles, crochet, origami and more. Complementary materials are available on site, and you are also welcome to bring your own project.
WORK
Use our dedicated desk for quiet, focused work. The space is designed for calm, low-distraction focus.
Downstairs is also home to Julius & Caesar.
OUR BUNNIES
All of our bunnies are Rex rabbits, known for their velvety fur and gentle, curious and social nature.
Why Rex rabbits? For one of our founders, the connection began with Leopold, her first bunny, a Rex rescued from a kill shelter. He inspired a lifelong love for the breed, and Rex bunnies will always remind her of him.
Every one of our bunnies has been rehomed into our care. We do not breed rabbits or purchase animals for display, and some have been part of our family since long before The Quiet Rex began.
Their wellbeing always comes first. At The Quiet Rex, they are free to move, rest, explore and interact entirely on their own terms, while guests remain seated to keep every interaction calm and bunny-led.
Our bunnies may occasionally need rest or extra care, so we cannot guarantee that every bunny will be present during your visit.

Chief Risk Officer
Julius treats every movement as a potential threat and every unexpected sound as a full-scale crisis. His highly cautious approach ensures no danger, loophole or suspicious-looking object goes unnoticed, keeping The Quiet Rex and his brother Caesar extremely well protected.
CAESAR
Chief Executive Officer
Caesar is a curious and fiercely independent leader who prefers to do things his own way. He takes orders from no one and approaches every situation on his own terms. Confident and self-directed, he leads The Quiet Rex exactly as a CEO should: by answering to absolutely nobody.
EVELYN
VP of Business
Evelyn leads with confidence and a healthy dose of sass. Big, beautiful and dressed in a rather exclusive coat, she knows how to make an entrance. She keeps a close eye on business, challenges the status quo and makes sure her opinion is always part of the conversation.
HUGO
Sales Executive
Hugo is young, energetic and always ready for his next opportunity. With exceptionally large ears, he takes listening to customers very seriously. Naturally curious and quick to build relationships, he approaches every new connection with enthusiasm and never misses a promising lead.
REMOTE TEAM
Some of our longtime colleagues have transitioned to fully remote positions. They remain very much part of The Quiet Rex team, just without the commute.

🥬 Bunny Feeding (Optional)
3:30PM & 6:30PM daily
During booking, add fresh veggies for €3 and become very popular with the bunnies.
Feeding is supervised and limited for their wellbeing.
Note: Bunnies are naturally most active in the early morning and evening.
During the day, they often nap and rest, and all guests are required to let them sleep undisturbed.
Cancel up to 24 hours before your booking. Reschedule up to 2 hours before.
FOOD & DRINKS
A QUIETER ALTERNATIVE TO A BUNNY CAFÉ
The Quiet Rex is not a café or restaurant. For visitors searching for a bunny café in Amsterdam - or, in Dutch, a konijnencafé in Amsterdam - we offer a peaceful alternative, with a small selection of VEGAN & GLUTEN FREE refreshments to enjoy during your session.
To respect the silence of the space and the wellbeing of the bunnies, we do not prepare hot drinks or use loud machinery. We do offer ready-to-drink coffee and tea, bottled water, vegan cappuccino, plant-based chocolate milk, banana milk, and a selection of vegan, gluten-free snacks.
Because our bunnies are herbivores, our snack corner is vegan too.
HOUSE RULES
Age: Guests must be 20+ to enter. No groups.
Silence & vibe

This is a quiet sanctuary: No talking in the bunny areas & whisper only in common areas.

Phones must stay on silent/vibrate. Limited phone use, photography, and social media are allowed.

Kindness toward rabbits and humans is expected at all times.
Language

We love Amsterdam and want everyone to feel welcome. English is the shared language in our space.
Bunnies – safety first

Watch your step and move slowly in the bunny areas.

Don’t chase, pick up or crowd the rabbits. All guests must remain seated at all times and let the bunnies choose when to approach.

Avoid sudden movements. Small scratches or nibbles can happen around animals.

No outside animals are allowed on site.

If you have bunnies at home or work with bunnies, please visit on a “clean day”: no animal contact beforehand, preferably shower before your visit, and wear clean clothes and shoes. If you have been around animals who are unwell or under treatment, please contact us to reschedule.
Clothing & hygiene

You’ll be asked to remove your shoes and clean your hands before entering the rabbit area.

Please wear long pants and socks.

Please avoid perfume or other strong fragrances.

Keep bags and coats off the bunny zones.

Dirt, fur or nibbles on clothing is possible, so avoid delicate/expensive outfits.

If you are feeling unwell, we kindly ask that you reschedule your visit.

This experience is not recommended for those who are pregnant, immunocompromised, or have animal or hay allergies.
Drinks & snacks

Personal water bottles are allowed but no other outside drink or food is allowed.

Enjoy them quietly and dispose of packaging before you leave.
Furniture & movement

Please don’t drag or rearrange furniture; ask us if you need help.

Keep your things within your seat/desk; don’t block shared paths.

Please keep books, laptops and crafts materials within your reserved spot and use them quietly.
Reservations & timing

We recommend arriving 5 minutes early. If you arrive late, you’re still welcome to join, but your session will end at the original scheduled time, so your visit may be shorter.
