By booking or visiting The Quiet Rex, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
1. About The Quiet Rex
The Quiet Rex is an adults-only, reservation-only quiet reading and focus lounge in Amsterdam with free-roaming rabbits.
2. Entry and reservations
Entry is by reservation unless otherwise stated. Guests must be aged 20 or over. We reserve the right to refuse entry where necessary for safety, animal welfare, operational, or legal reasons.
3. Quiet conduct
The Quiet Rex is a low-stimulus environment. Guests must keep voices at whisper level, keep phones on silent, and avoid disruptive behaviour. No amplified sound, no intoxicated behaviour, and no conduct that disturbs other guests, staff, or animals.
4. Staff instructions
Guests must follow staff instructions at all times, including instructions related to safety, animal welfare, hygiene, emergency procedures, and use of the space.
5. Animal interaction
Our rabbits are free-roaming living animals. Interaction must always be gentle, calm, seated where instructed, and rabbit-led. Guests must not pick up, chase, follow, restrain, corner, feed, or disturb any rabbit. Gentle petting is allowed only when a rabbit approaches.
6. Animal welfare
Animal welfare is our highest priority. Any intentional harm, rough handling, abuse, or conduct that endangers an animal will result in immediate removal from the premises and may be reported to the appropriate authorities. In the Netherlands, animal mistreatment and neglect can be reported to the authorities via 144, and urgent emergencies via 112.
7. Incidents
Any incident involving a rabbit, guest, spill, scratch, nip, damage, or safety issue must be reported to staff immediately.
8. Health and allergies
Our space contains hay, rabbit dander, and other natural materials. Guests are responsible for deciding whether the environment is suitable for them. If you have severe allergies, asthma, immune sensitivities, or other relevant health concerns, please consult a qualified professional before booking. Do not visit if you feel unwell.
9. Hot beverages and use of space
Complimentary tea or other beverages may be served hot. Please handle drinks carefully and keep them on tables or designated surfaces. Keep aisles clear and do not leave bags or personal items on the floor.
10. Personal belongings
Guests remain responsible for their own personal belongings at all times. The Quiet Rex is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal property unless required by law.
11. Damage caused by guests
Guests may be held responsible for damage caused by misuse, negligence, or failure to follow instructions, including damage to books, furniture, materials, equipment, fixtures, or harm caused to animals.
12. Photography and filming
Photography for personal use may be allowed if done quietly and respectfully. No flash. No filming or photographing other guests or staff without their consent. We reserve the right to restrict photography where needed for privacy, calm, or animal welfare.
13. Removal from the premises
We may refuse entry or end a visit without refund where a guest ignores rules, disturbs others, behaves unsafely, places an animal at risk, damages property, or fails to follow staff instructions.
14. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where exclusion is not permitted under Dutch law. To the extent permitted by law, The Quiet Rex is not liable for indirect or consequential loss and is liable only for damage directly resulting from intent or gross negligence. Dutch business guidance warns that consumer terms must be reasonable and that clauses excluding liability too broadly may be unfair.
15. Changes
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The latest version will always apply and be published on our website.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by Dutch law.
